Deuce Hood Lift Kit Availability

I was wondering if anyone still makes the kits with the struts for easily raising the Deuce hood. I know that BBQROD was making and selling them back in 2014. It appears that he hasn't posted them for sale since then. I've tried to PM him and received an error message that his mailbox is full.

Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but just wondering, easily raises it how, like with a lift strut?

His system did use gas struts. I think he owns Old Clinton BBQ in Gray GA. You can also use send him an email via this site similar to sending a PM.

BBQROD posted a video back in 2014 of the lift kit installed and operating on a Deuce. The two gas struts look like they make raising the hood a 5 sec. task instead of climbing on the fender to raise the hood. All you have to do is release the hood latch and the hood goes up. There was a lanyard included to pull the hood back down. I should have spent the money back in 2014.

I bought this system from BBQROD in 2014, and it is true, it completely raises itself.

Tonight I will take pictures for you of the mounts and part numbers for the shocks so, if you're so inclined, you can make your own.

I had a hood lift kit that I never installed on my bobber. It won't work with the old dump truck hood that I used. This is a lift kit that BBQROD sold me from the classifieds.

[Edit - My hood lift kit is now sold.]

As promised, here are the pictures I took:

Gas Shock# 6104 (qty 2)

As can be seen, it was designed to use all existing bolts & holes in the firewall and hood. There was no drilling needed, but I would recommend someone to give a hand holding the bolt head in the engine compartment while you're in the cab, tightening the nuts.

North Carolina - FINALLY !
If anyone is still interested, I just found the BBQRod kit I bought, but I have sold my deuce. I put it in the GA rally buy sell thread for $200. New in the box.

EDIT: Sold almost immediately. Didn't even get time to write a classified ad.

Late to the party on this thread, but if anyone does make contact with the builder of these sets & he has more or is willing to make more let me know as well too. Thanks
