I ordered two of the #41378 elbows from O'Reily this morning. A bit more expensive than on line but they will be here before noon.

I have plenty of paint from RAPCO so it will be a quick install.

Has anyone had any problem with their intake mushroom being loose....?
I've tightened mine down till i think its about to crush the tube, only to notice it trying to lay on the fender.

If it has happened to you, how did you fix it..?

I use a really well-built SS t-bolt clamp on my mushroom filter and elbow extension. Are you using a regular worm gear clamp? No screwdriver either. 1/4 drive ratchet. These are just helpful suggestions. You may know all of this already.

Mine used to come loose occasionally...I removed my split lock-washer and standard nut and replaced it with a flat washer and ny-lock nut. There is a lot of vibration and standard hardware just won't stay tight.

It has a nice clamp on it with about a 4" long bolt with 1/2" head and nut.
It may sound dumb, but i was thinking of something like a fat rubber band over the air can housing
end and under the mushroom tube, just to create some friction between the two parts...

You can always run a self tapping screw or two into it as an extra back up to the clamp.

Use this clamp. It's called a band clamp and the trucking industry has used them for decades. It's what I use on mine.
