Deuce MC Venting?

I am trying to use my new power bleeder on the Hog truck, it's master cylinder vent is completely different from those I have seen in all the threads in the search results. They show the same type vent I have on my differentials. Mine has a L in the top of the MC filler cap and a brake line type line running about a foot to a larger line that runs up toward the engine? And the only real access to it is from the bottom since the mc is only accessed through the small door in the cab floor with a really small circular hole to access the MC cap? Is this some old style setup that I should change. It is a pain to remove the line from the cap and them remove the cap for filling/bleeding.

Mine has the "L" and metal line. I can take the line loose and remove the mc top from the access door but it is tight. All you need to do is remove the line and "L" to install the bleeder adapter in the mc cap. I wouldn't think that the vent cap would work for the mc. I thought they where meant to vent pressure out and close. The mc needs to vent air in as the fluid level drops. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. I really need to do the remote setup like AceHigh shows. One quick look to check break fluid level.

Yours is normal.......

That's pretty much the way they all are. Just unhook the vent line, screw the L out. Then get a hose barb that's the same thread as the L and whatever size your bleeder line is. There's a couple different caps, so that's why I'm not givin sizes cause they are different.

Thread the barb into the cap, hook the bleeder line to it and go to town bleeding. It's a pain, but does the job. Then when you have all the right stuff you can get a spare cap and make your own adapter, or just keep doing it that way.

The more ya do it the easier it gets.

I am thinking about adding a hose fitting like my M715 has an running a vent hose up along the cab floor for the time being. I am also thinking about using Dot3 fluid for the time being since I will be draining and refilling as I work on the brake system over the next few months. Dot 5 is high buying it by the quart at Bumper to Bumper!

I installed a remote today, I want to cap off the vent line, does anyone know what sixe female fitting to use, I have tried everything.

This metal hose was attached to the L that was on top of the M/C. I have a mle end left (flare fitting) and no way to cap it.

Some don't have a vent line, but rather a springloaded one way vent identical to the ones on the axle housings.

The old vent line does not need to be capped off. If you just want to keep dust out of it, in case someone wants to put it back to original someday, just slide the nut up the line and use a rubber cap(vacuum line accessory) or a piece of rubber hose with a bolt in the end of it.

Or if you don't care about putting it back to original, just bend it over and pinch it shut.

I thought about that, but, I do like the idea of retuning it to original if need be. I did find a fitting, but it has a fuel barb on it, I will pinch off and soder that instead of crimping the line.

It is best to revent the MC and Air Pack. At the moment your truck has a common vent line for the MC, AP and Fuel Tank. The reason many of the trucks were changed because there is a chance, minimal but still a chance, that fuel could contaminate the brake system. It is best if you can to seperate the two systems. I just redid one for another member and will be doing one here in the next week. This is the vent I used on the MC and I just capped the T from the fuel tank. Air Vent 1/8 NPT Breather Price for 1 pc It also helps reduce the time needed to remove the cap to check the brake fluid.
