I have a couple of dumb questions. When it comes to MV nomenclature, I inderstand what the "A1" and "A2" designations mean, but what does the "C" suffix denote?

For the second question, some of the M35s assigned to my TAC unit were "screamers" or "whistlers." Fortunately, the one assigned to me was not one of them. The question is: why did some of them "scream" or "whistle" while others did not. (If it helps, I was assigned to the unit in '79 and '80, and most of our M35s were 5 to 7 years old at the time.)

"C" = dropside bed

Screamers/whistlers are trucks equipped with the "C" turbo-the non tubo'd deuces and the Deuces equipped with the quieter "D" turbo do not scream/whistle.
