That winch would be good for a pole truck. Fab up a set of Jin poles, hang a snatch block off the end, and run the cable over the block. Good for moving heavy things around the property. Or you could just be like me and buy a wrecker...

Do this unit have the cover at the back to bolt the rear PTO as well ?
I'm unsure of your question. This PTO is a rare aluminum unit that faces rear. It mounts to the Spicer transmissions 3052 and 3053. The other style "WIN 7" faces front and the "WIN 7" with the extra adapter has a rearward facing shaft also. It's funny but I got all three designs from my three 1952 Studbaker REO's. Two of the trucks where decontamination units with one having a front winch. The third truck just had a front winch.

Looks like the man's freebie winch would make either a very good boat anchor, or a way to keep Jimmy Hoffa from floating to the top, but other then those two uses, it's probably scrap. The time wasted in overhauling and rigging would buy you either a good complete Deuce Winch and PTO, or a good purpose design commercial hydraulic PTO, Pump and Winch..... But, Then, if he has time and money to burn, why stop him other then he might booger up an otherwise good deuce?
