Moving the fifth wheel plate back would put the load behind the center pivot of the tandem axle, potentially taking too much weight off the front axle.Ray, could you have moved the 5th wheel plate farther back and been ok with the weight distribution?

Used the military transfer case/transmission hoist, this device really simplifies removal and install.
The swap couldn't have gone smoother in spite of getting rained on!

Not too bad on the cranks, maybe two minutes from top to bottom, but a little more resistance on the way back up.How many cranks on that ratchet to get the transfer case into position Ray, hundreds? Made my arm tired just thinking about it! That wench is just the ticket though, I'm sure it would have been a bigger pain doing it any other way.
