Was this during shipment or at the storage loacation? I think it would be wise to let CID know since it is an Army truck and may be linked to something bad. Even though it is not a current Army truck it would be looked at as a US entitiy and that truck could do a lot of damage just being driven or even worse loaded with something bad

I hate to change the subject, but I would like to ask you some questions about a Unimog winch. I have an HPC winch and am having a difficulty time finding literature and specifications for it. What is the load capacity? It is not set up on a vehicle and cannot get it to retract. No matter what combination of levers I pull, it will only wind out when I turn the driveshaft by hand. Is it broken?

I wonder if the thieves had to wait for an EUC? Sorry I had to ask that for a bit of cheer. No kidding aside this is a serious issue in Germany since the truck speaks English to anyone who looks at it and it clearly has an American accent. I agree that the location means it was most likely containerized unless it is being prepped as a weapon. Please let the American Army CID know about this since it is a security breach and all US presence in Europe should watch for it.

Nun, am vergangenen Donnerstag morgen erhielt Alex und ich von Reojürgo und Manni fast gleichzeitig den entscheidenden Hinweis auf die Mobile.de-Vekaufsanzeige. Dort wurde Alex Reo - so wie er damals wegtransportiert wurde- in einer Halle mit fünf Fotos abgelichtet - zuerst für 4999,- € - am Freitag dann für 3999,- € aus dem Raum Uelzen angeboten.

Alexander ist natürlich umgehend zur hiesigen Polizei und hat alles in die Wege geleitet um den Wagen sicher zu stellen. Aber so einfach wie man sich das vorstellt gehts dann doch nicht. Die Günzburger Polizei konnte nur die Kollegen in dem Niedersächsischen Kreis informieren. Ich habe zwischenzeitlich über die angegebene Handynummer beim Verkäufer starkes Kaufinteresse bekundet und einen Termin zur Besichtigung ausgemacht. Dadurch erfuhr ich vom Verkäufer einen neuen Standort, der mit dem angegebenen Verkaufsort in der Anzeige nichts zu tun hatte!(Verschleierungstaktik). Was nun folgte war Filmreif!
Nun wurde die Kripo Uelzen eingeschaltet. Die hatten schon lange auf eine solche Gelegenheit gewartet, denn hinter dem Verkäufer stand wohl eine Autoschieberbande deren Kopf Jens Fischer (durch Interpol in Spanien aufgefunden und verhaftet) seit einigen Wochen in U-Haft in der JVA einsitzt. So besorgte ich noch schnell einen Mietwagen, der mit EU-Kennzeichen (Euskirchen) auf eine völlig andere Gegend als unseren eigentlichen Wohnort schliessen musste. Denn wenn der Verkäufer unser eigenes Auto mit dem hiesigen Kennzeichen gesehen hätte wäre er möglicherweise wieder davongefahren. Der Reo hatte ja die gleiche Registrierung im Kfz Brief.
So flogen Alex und ich am Freitag in Herrgottsfrühe im AUDI A3 S-Line in 4 Stunden die 640 Km nach Uelzen und waren um 9Uhr bei der Kripo zum Kriegsrat. Etwas mulmig wurde uns allerdings, als die 6 Beamte ihre Waffen schulterten und schussichere Westen untergezogen wurden.
Um 11Uhr machte ich dann mit zwei Beamte den Lockvogel. Als um 11.15Uhr der Wagen mit dem Verkäufer auftauchte begann die verdeckte Ermittlung. Der Richer, den ich bezüglich unseres Kennzeichens hatte war goldrichtig, denn der Verkäufer schaute erst aus seinen Wagen auf meine Kennzeichen und stieg erst danach aus. Nun sollte ich ihm folgen, denn der Reo stände in einem anderen Ort in der Nähe (!).
Meine Begleiter hatten nun eine ständige Handyverbindung zu den beiden Fahrzeugen der anderen Beamten bei denen auch Alex war. Wir fuhren Herrn T. also hinterher und erreichten nach einigen Minuten den erhofften Standort des Reo. Danach ging es recht schnell. An dem alten Bauernhof stiegen wir aus. Ich stellte meine Begleiter als Schrauberhelfer und Freunde vor und Herr T. führte uns zum Reo. Natürlich erkannte ich Alexanders Reo sofort - auch wenn er nun garnicht mehr so schön vor mir stand wie ich ihn in Erinnerung hatte - der Reo stand wohl seit zwei Jahren draussen im Garten und war über und über vermoost.
Mit einem vorab abgesprochenen Signal leitete ich dann die Verhaftung des Verkäufers ein. Dem Guten wurden wärend der Abtastung seine Rechte verlesen. Festnahme wegen Hehlerei sowie Beteiligung an Betrug in mehreren Fällen. Eine Minute später trafen die anderen Beamten und Alexander ein. Herrn T. ist wirklich das Gesicht runtergefallen und ein sehr strenger Duft durchzog von da an die unmittelbare Umgebung seiner Nähe :wacko: Er war plötzlich sehr mitteilungsbedürftig und "sang wie ein Vögelchen" (O-Ton des leitenden Beamten später).
Der Reo wurde sichergestellt und nach Klärung der Eigentumsverhältnisse wird Alexander ihn sicher bald zurück bekommen. Das breite Grinsen von Alexander ist wohl nur operativ zu entfernen... ENDE GUT ALLES GUT

Wow that is great that it is back home and the bad guy is apprehended. Have to wonder what increased security measures will be taken. I like the X10 cameras they are cheap and log the stream onto your computer

Quite the cloak and dagger turn of events. It's reassuring to hear that it was only stolen for resale and not as cover for some bigger plan. Because that could be bad news for all of us.
