Good Morning Folks after reviewing the different forums this looked like the best match for this question, if not I will delete as requested? Anyway here it goes, I have the TMs for my new in transit S-280 communications shelter that will be permanantly mounted to the new Deuce I go to pickup tomorrow, and yes it will be fun. OK on the 280 that I bought (I have read the TMs) it has two A/C units on the front of it that sit above the cab of the Deuce when its mounted, Are these units JUST air cooling units or are they also air heating units? I can find nothing in the TMs that explain anything about these? If anybody knows a TM # that goes into this please let me know. Thanks very much for any assistance!

Karl, if they are MIL A/C's they are more than likely both HEat and cool. (The dual 18k ones on my S-280 are) also unless you are lucky they are more than likely 3ph..... ( Gunna need a Genny heheheh)

The 9000 but/h A/C I have does have a heat strip in it, and it's single phase 110v. Almost all of them use R-22 refrigerant, which is being phased out. Because of that, a 30 pound jug has gone from $60 to about $180 locally, and can only be purchased by a licensed HVAC specialist. Since most home heat pumps use R-22, having a jug on hand might not be a bad thing. Military A/C units are three or four times the size and weight of a civvy model of the same capacity, and many of the are three phase (lower starting and running amps). YMMV.
