why does my generator put out 90v- @1200 rpm? please help, any info would be greatly appreciated. I havent been a member long , but love this site. thank you.

i have a tm manual, that said measure the output at the alt. with headlights on and the eng. @ 12oo rpm. i noticed the batt. imediatly boiling out of the caps so i disconnected it. thanks for all you replys.:-D

Sounds like the regulator is fried. Don't run it like this much, it will fry many, many expensive gauges in the process. Replace the regulator, and it will more than likely be A-OK!
