Short steel and cars are at 100/ton here. If you wanted to get the best price for scrap, you would need to remove 1000lbs of tires, and cut the deuce frame in half or more. Never seen a better(special) price for whole large trucks.

So say, 6.5 tons for a M35a2($650). I have no idea what a processor(scrapyard) gets for the scrap at the next level, but to guess it could be double what they pay, that still only adds up to about $2500 for an M35a2. (don't forget to subtract the labor cost to prep it). For that price, I'd rather pick and choose a GL auction truck.

at 2500 you can choose between 50 trucks

About the same in Iowa.

A "Fire Sale" price would be compared to current on GL (around $1000). A "save from the scraper" would be the same = a premium over his margin after preparing for resale as prepared scrap. A "save me because I overpaid for my inventory" = LIQUIDATION PRICE (= 25-40% of what the foolish guy paid (= $1000)).

if you don't like his price don't buy it. There are plenty of places to pay way more then that for a deuce
I don't think they are complaining about the actual prices, maybe more the description of this as a "fire sale".

I think the guy has good prices for deuces, however, if it was a "fire sale", I would expect lower too.

But anyway, I'd buy one at that price if I were looking.

I wont get into what exactly a fire sale is and what isn't and if the average deuce brings 2500 then the fire sale means it should be atleast half of that ect. I know what I paid for mine when I got it and yes it was cheaper than what he is asking for a complete deuce but by the time I added GL's percentage and paying to get a title and the distance for having to go and get it ect. Price wise it wasn't that much different than what he is asking. I considered mine to be in good shape and he has some on his lot that are even better than mine. Lets not mention if you bid on it and then didn't like it your still stuck. If your able to go to his yard if you dont see what you like you still get to walk away with a pocket full of cash... Not to mention he has some that have alot of options that you always dont find at the auctions and when someone else looks at it and everything it has then they just run the price up. Heaters, winches, brand new electric wiper systems, complete radio systems, ect.

These were just some of the things I found when walking the yard, I finished picking up most of my stuff yesterday and probably will end up going back getting a few other things. I dont need them but it will be nice to have and so far everything I have purchased off of him he has charged less than half of what I have seen it go for whether on ebay or under the classifieds here. I thought he was a great guy to deal with, I believe he stands by everything he sells and I also had the opportunity to run into another SS soldier while I was there. Also a great guy and very knowledgeable !

For those looking for a deuce for 1000.00, well I dont know what to say *lol* I told him if he would take 1000 I would buy 5-6 of them.... because I would do exactly what the majority of others would do, take it home, clean it up and try to double the price by selling it... I haven't seen to many running deuces on GL go for 1000 or less, I'm sure some have somewhere, but then figure if your not that close the price on getting it back home. When I asked him how many he could get on his lowboy he could only haul 2 at a time.... So naturally like I think 1 or 2 others have said he almost has to get his money back out of them. If he doesn't by selling parts or whole then they will all go into the melting pot.

Hey fells sorry about the misunderstanding about a "fire sale". I am trying to sell as much as i can at a decent price without losing my ass. From what i have researched the prices i am offering are pretty damn good. if you need need it i will try and get it to you as cheap as i can. if you don't like the price i give you make me another offer and we'll see if we can work something out. again sorry for the misunderstanding didn't mean to cause a fuss

I don't think it's a fuss really, just us arguing about semantics. We are just glad you are working with us rather than scrapping the trucks.

No big deal man, you're ok in my book.
