On your first EUC does everyone get one stating you have had a background check done?

Excatlly what Stumps said !! When you submit a EUC it goes to DLA and they start doing a background check on you !! And if you are good then your EUC is approved if not then you are out of luck

I would say yes, only because I got one, and others I know got one. The purpose of the letter is to put the fear of Uncle Sam into you to keep you from exporting your new found restricted goody. And, to remind you that they can take it back from you at any time for any reason.

In any case, why does it matter? You got one.

It won't come until your EUC is cleared... in my case, I got the letter a day or two before I got the paid invoice notification from GL.

Does anyone know if anyone ever been rejected for failing the background check? I wonder what what they consider grounds for rejection?

I haven't ever heard anyone say that they were rejected. I think the rejection mechanism is to simply not give approval, and let the clock run out.... That way BC never has to justify their determination.

To be rejected I'd think you'd have to had entered some wrong info on the EUC, Be a non-citizen, or be on the terror watchlist.

I have heard of people being rejected for bad or missing info on the EUC. They do a reverse phone number lookup on you and if your phone number and address don't match they will reject you. Or you DL address and your accual address doesn't match. GL will proofread your EUC and will usually pick up on the mistakes but sometimes the miss it. Any time I've heard of this happening they don't ban you from future sales. They just tell you to try again next time.

I put my cell phone number down. It will match my address if their check is as good as it said to be. The euc just says "phone number." It doesn't say which one. I talked to a lady from the DLA the other day and she said everything is good. They are just waiting on the "no radium" certificate.

Per Federal Register, they are to provide reason(s) for rejection. Commerce control it (dual use) and US Munitions List items are restricted to prevent their use against US or allied forces. The investigation is primarily to preclude violators of export controls. The phone/physical address/utility check establishes legal residency since "shell corporations" don't usually pass.

My first EUC cleared in a few weeks in 2006 but I never got a letter stating that I had been approved or checked.

It may have been because I was already in so many data bases since I had a Top Secret Clearance at the time.

I would think military folks or civilians that have already had checks done would breeze through.

I know a guy, a SS member, who had one rejected. Lost a sweet truck because of it. They said his paperwork did not match his address although he had lived there for years. Got it straightened out later but they had resold the truck. I did not get the letter, I did have the the class 1A clearance at one time but had not used or renewed it since the 70's. Maybe that is why my first ine went through so quickly? I doubt it. I attribute it to luck in my case.

I had a TS-C both on active duty and the National Guard. My first EUC took almost three months. I think Rick is correct, it was just luck!

I lost 3 trucks that way. Tried to find out why but they don't tell you. Never had a problem in my life with "the man" so I gave up.

Shortly after that my wife bought 3 trucks and they all went through. I still do not know why.

ETA- this was several years ago now, it was happening more often then. One of the other guys that had been rejected told me he was clean as a whistle and tried to get help from his congress critter, but DLA locked up. I was not happy but my wife does let me play with her trucks. And paint them. And maintain them.

I might add they never denied it, just said they could not confirm my address.
