No offense, Tom, but eBay sometimes is not a good place to sell heavy items that require shipment via freight. eBay is best for small items that are hard to find, large items that require expensive freight or pickup by the bidder go for a much lower percentage. My two cents, based on experience.

wreckerman, don't scrap the engines. Hold onto them until they find a home, please.

If something (up to perhaps deuce size) was passing through Central IL along I-55, I would be able to store it for a while. It would be outside. I don't have a crane to load or unload a 1600 lb. object, though. At least not now.

I too am interested in an engine. If someone could get it within 200 miles of central IL., I will pay a fuel fee. This would also work if someone could get it to Indy, IN. I could even 'chain' an additional one within my area and I have a skidsteer to load an unload.
Anyone???

vtach, I'm in northern Illinois. I would also be willing to pay a fuel fee and a little extra for the time and effort. I'm interested in one of the $600.00 engines and the $200.00 engine (if noone has claimed them). I was going to check with USHIP but if there is a better way.

I have to say it is real easy for us to say hold on to them and don't scrap them but we are not the one with the big boat anchors in our yard. Do what you need to Wrecker. I hope someone gets them whole as some day the things will be rare and hard to obtain like so many other military equipment parts. I was really thinking about it since Chris is offering transport but I really do not have a need right now and really don't want to have a boat anchor around the yard. I already have two 6.2s two turbo 400 trans, and a cucv transfer case taking up room.

I can provide temporary (couple weeks upto 2-3 months) storage at my current residence. Most likely outdoors for a whole deuce, indoors for an engine.

I'm in the middle of southern MN so it probably wont help many people, but thought i'd offer.

Make me a deal I can't refuse and I will haul them off.....some how.....somewhere.....I am a packrat.I own 7 or 8 Ford/IHC diesel engines(Pre-Powerstroke) all cores not to mention enough parts and junk to build another 2 or 3 engines. When I get a place of my own,I am gonna be that guy you use as directions....You turn next to the yard that looks like a scrap dealer and go 5 mile type deal.

i found a new fuel source. every once in a while at a construction company a fool will put gas in deisel or vise versa. let the construction companies in your area know that you will pay $2.00 a gal for that stuff after they drain it from the tank they messed up. believe me they can only sell it to recyclers for alot less.

Amazing, a year and a half ago I was searching high and low for a decent engine at a decent price. I finally paid better than a grand for one but it too had a bad bottom end... I said to hell with it and started buying whole trucks for that or less, basically a crap shoot but too much fun!

I'd make a trip for good Multis, I'm on the Florida/Alabama line (L.A. baby, aka Lower Alabama) and have room... Shove 'em in a shipping container with a pallet jack! Where 'bouts are you?

Also, what's the best method of storing these if you don't have a can, they are a little awkward sprawled out on a pallet...
