When I picked up my 998 the door handles were both broken. I replaced them today and realized the latches are missing. First, not sure if I assembled them correctly and secondly I am told that the latch itself is hard to come by. If so, what have you guys used for a latch?

Thx

The body strikers for soft doors are round rod type striker.
They should be easy to find. Part numbers are in the TM. Try Kascar or Hummerpartsguy.

There is a short "arm" on the inside handle that will hook on that wire. Do not tighten the screw too tight when you put the handles together. The handles should spring back when you move them.

The one in the pic above is for the rear doors. A different one for each side. The front is the same, left and right. They are only $1.88 at Kascar. 12339187.

Why don't you just spend the $2 ea and buy some?
To install, you remove 2 of the bolts in the b-pillar, sit in the seat and pull the door closed. hold the latch there and see which two bolts to use. Once bolted on, you can slide it in and out for a tight or loose fit. If the door fits tight at the bottom and not the top, take it off and bend the top in more.
