I'm sure this topic is discussed somewhere, but I cannot seem to find it. I am registering my truck for the first time since the new draconian socialist laws took effect. Apparently if it is over 16,001 pounds and a truck it is a commerical truck in Washington state with no regard given to military type trucks. Things changed in June 2012, my tabs are from May to May so I missed the start of the fun.
I have explained over and over again it is not a commerical truck, it is a truck. A got the "free" DOT number and now I am getting phone calls from every loser group tied in with the fed trying to sell me trucker services of some sort.
Apparently, I need to keep driving records and CDL physicals or some such crap. Does anyone stop at weigh stations? I don't know of any near me but apparently they have, "plans".
They (the FMCSA) called to threaten me if I drove my army truck out of state. Apparently, to drive out of state is an additional 250 bucks in permits for an "intrastate" truck. I live 20 miles from Idaho and going to Cabela's in an army truck is apparently a crime. There is a weigh station on the border, but with the threats of hundreds of dollars in required permits to drive my truck near the state line, I won't see it for a while.
I have insurance and nothing is broke, what's the deal? I have a k-pot and a uniform shirt, do I just pretend to go back on active duty everytime I need to take the truck out for a spin?
