The "thimbles" threads torqued down stretch the bolt/stud. That is what holds it in place, not the face of the surfaces that meet. Yes, the hemtt rims weigh at least 150lbs.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
How much does a HEMTT wheel, no tire, just the wheel weigh?
Somewhere been said about 160 lbs.
Inquiring minds want to know!
I put a deuce bed on my M810 with 1600's and they rubbed with no weight in the bed.In extreme circumstances, I can say that 47" tires on a deuce will rub the underside of the bed. I've done it crossing a ravine in a deuce grossing a little over 30,000#. I expect 53" tires on a 5 ton under a similar scenario might yield the same results.
how do you like that setup, now that you have had them on for a while? I was thinking of doing it with my M818. pulled any heavy loads on the road?Yes ,those rims are about 150# each. I had six of them in the back of my Focus! I have the 15.5 385x20 on my bridge truck and have it in the creek flats pulling trees without any problems. With that said, the 385's are actualy smaller than the stock 14:00x20.
The only downside is the fact they weigh 170lbs per wheel.
We've got a lot of new unmounted hemtt rims if anyone is looking for a set.
