My Drivers seat has the spring and a small shocasorber under it. My question is what does that crank handle on the lower front do? and my bottom cushion just sits on top of the seat frame, is there supposed to be something that holds it in place?<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_dork.gif" alt="Dork">

The crank in the front tightens up the spring to adjust for your weight. The seat cushion is also adjustable. You can lift from front to set in higher position. There is a lever on the left side on the seat rail that will adjust the rear of the cushion up or down. On the backrest on the left side a handle type lever pull whole cushion up which is used to move cushion up or down. <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_cool.gif" alt="Cool">

That front crank handle I wasnt sure about, its froze up anyway. But I still dont under stand why my bottom seat cushion is not secured. mine just sits there, nothing holds it in place. I may be missing something, or I may have a mismatched seat???

Dan, there are 2 "L" shaped brackets that are supposed to be there. The brackets are slotted and ride on a round shaft on the seat frame. There is a place on the brackets for a higher front seat setting. No doubt yours are missing.

my L brackets came loose out of the seat cushion, i think a screw fell out of one of them. it seemed like my seat was not attached until i futher inspected it and found missing screws and the brackets just twisted outta position

Oh yea, I see where some bolt holes are stripped out on each side on the bottom front.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

After three tanks of fuel in the duece, it has become apparent that the stock driver's seat has got to go. I've played with all the adjustments to no avail. Obviously they were built for 20 year old troops that are in shape... not 45 year olds, with 30-pak abs, who refuse to train. 2 hours of bouncin' around in the duece, and I'm walkin' like Jeff Foxworthy on his way to the chiropractor.
Are there any modern day, mil-spec type seats that are comfortable, and can be retro fitted/fabb'ed into the duece? Or am I headed to the off-road shop?
As soon as I get this worked out, the stock seats will be for sale... CHEAP!

Hey Squirt;
Sounds like you traded that six pack in for a keg<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="Wink">! Due to the shape of the cab the mil seats are the best at getting into the round corner of the interior. You could try an aftermarket seat, like I did(but I didn't like the way it fit so I returned it), but my instinct says don't sell those mil seats just yet.

I spotted a cool seat today while hangin' out the local equipment dealer, one of my favorite spots. Bobcat makes a couple different seats that look like they will bolt right on to the stock seat platform. One is a basic seat only, with a flat bottom. $100. Cushy.
The top of the line one has suspension. $400. REAL cushy, but a couple inches taller. I'm gettin' warm...
