Dual stacks on M939A2.

Hello, we recently built a headache rack & dual 8" stacks for a 5 ton w/ 8.3 Cummins. Changed the entire system including a new 5" down-pipe off the turbo which follows the original path under the cab to a Y-pipe mounted between the stacks. The headache rack gave us something solid to mount the stacks to plus adds some welcomed protection for the occupants. The air intake is plumbed into the headache rack tubing via 90 degree elbows at the top of each vertical 4" tube. From there it travels down to the bottom where a 5" pipe connects it to the factory air box. Worked out well I feel. I've seen some other stacks on various trucks posted on here & just thought I'd share our version too. Have a good one.

Tinstar, it's outside, but found some perfect little buckets to cover the stacks with. It also has some 1/16" drain holes in the very bottom to prevent water from collecting. Color matched would've been a nice look too, but I like the flat black a bit more. The truck's also going to get repainted at some point anyways.

Closer shot of the headache rack. The (2) elbows below the top bar are the 4" inlets for the air intake. On the bottom side of the lower cross tube you can see 2 bolts. This is where the 5" pipe connects to go forward to the air filter housing- just like the factory snorkel did.

Not a bad mod but I don't like the straight stacks myself. Just a leftover prejudice from my trucking days. I like the turnouts and if I do stacks on my M927A2 that's what I'll have.

im not a big fan of the straight stacks when it rains they fill with water and blow black garbage all over your rig. my Thiokol 2100 came that way after a stormy 3 week barge ride it must have pumped 5 gallons of water out of the stack on first fire up. the whole rig was covered in black slurry

SnowTrac Nome, my way around that would be some buckets or custom made covers, but I can also see that putting them on and taking them off could get old quickly.

Pretty cool. How can anybody in this hobby not like big crazy pipes? If it is stainless tube, I would not cover them for rain. You could sell quite a few of them here if you really wanted to.
