Engine Never Seems To Get Warm

I have a 5 ton, Cummins NHC-250. It seems the engine never gets warm. I have replaced the thermostat and only gets about 120 degrees. Any other ideas? I am new to SS and this is the first MV I have owned. Thanks for your help in advance.

How are you checking the temp? It should be 180 at the thermostat, using a laser gun. As cold natured as the 250's are, you may have to block off some of the radiator, since you are in Maine.

If there is no winter front on the truck you can (as mentioned above) block off part of the radiator with a thin piece of paneling or cardboard (not ideal if it gets wet and melts into the radiator). If you do this keep a close eye on the temp gage and adjust how much of the radiator you block off until you find the sweet spot.

Unless its summer I have to hit a grade to warm up my M923A1 and I'm in TN. If its above say 45 degrees out I would expect the engine temp to clear 150 degrees after 20 or 30 minutes or a steep grade. As mentioned grab a laser temp gauge and double check, if its reaching 180 then there's no problem. These trucks have an oversized cooling system and if its not at least warm out or your not working them they struggle to reach operating temp.
