Alright my esteemed friends, need a little help___ Our Department obtained the 5 ton version of a LMTV, (it floods in Houston). Anyway the first problem is the fan on the fan clutch is flopping like a landed bass.
I took it apart yesterday. Airline taken off, six allen head bolts just like the second page of figure 45. then retaining plate, non-metallic grommet, fan then spacer plate. I will attempt to post a picture, but I believe that the wrong fan has been put on this truck. The picture shows that the six allen head bolts go through six holes in the fan. I don't have the latter. Plus the hole in the center of the fan is bigger that the retaining plate. it just wollows around and when its tight to the clutch the fan is not tight at all. can anyone tell me if this is the right or wrong fan. If it is the wrong one where can I get the right one.

Welcome from League City. You have a MTV "Medium Tactical Vehicle" made a few miles down I-10 from you. The clutch in your picture is missing pieces and not sure what style fan that is. Get ahold of Eastern Surplus and have them send you a new fan and clutch.

You are fortunate you caught this before it came apart and took out the radiator and who knows what else! Make sure you get the updated version. It is more robust and does not loosen and fail like the original part. There are several threads here discussing this very topic. There are two versions of the fan and fan clutch. You can't mix the old and new.

My old version fan clutch went out recently and I swapped over to the new fan and clutch. I have the old fan, complete and working (for a 20 year part), if you're interested.

Otherwise, you want the new one piece fan with the steel center, but then you have to buy the new fan clutch too. I think I've seen both on eBay recently ($100 for the fan, couple hundred for the clutch).
