I Won a deuce on GL the other day.... Paid for it.. now waiting for my euc to clear... IN the mean time i would love to get some hands on experience with a deuce so i will know what to expect on the trip home. It is about 200 miles from me.. I have never driven a deuce but i have driven large vehicles.. Rvs Box trucks ECt.. It would be great if someone close by with a running truck would give me a few pointers on the trucks so i know what to do when it is time for me to pick my truck up... I Have been doing lots of reading all of the info on the site.. Just would be great for some hands on experience.... I am located in augusta Georgia..... SOME HELP WOULD BE GREAT THANKS GUYS

Welcome aboard Zack ...

You shouldn't have trouble finding somebody to show you the ropes ... there's a GANG of folks here from Georgia.

I'm a bit too far west to help you out ... Pickens County ...

but if you can't find nobody else ... and want to make the drive out ... I'll do what I can.

Congratulations on getting a Deuce! You will enjoy the recovery. I'm assuming you got an M35A2? If you want to make the ~200 mile trip to Hiawassee in the North Georgia mountains, I have both an M35A2 and M35A3 and you are welcome to drive either. Neither is difficult to drive, especially the A3, but they are a different breed of beast than most are used to. I can show you the ropes and what to check out during your recovery.

The most important thing to check out on either, but especially an A2, is the brakes. If the brakes aren't good, don't attempt to drive it. The A2 has a single circuit master cylinder. Let me know if you have any questions.

Welcome to the club, I know you'll enjoy your deuce. I wish you were closer, I'd let you drive mine to help pick up my M105A2 trailer this Friday.

I don't know if you meant it, Oddshot, but the GANG pun (Georgia National Guard?) was amusing. :D

Save 100 miles by not driving to Hiawassee and come see me in Hartwell, GA. I will let you drive either one of mine. I will even let you change the oil and filter some wvo, and wmo. Heck you can even change the fuel filters if you wish!

NOT THE FUEL FILTERS TOO!!!

I was gonna steer this young buck your way Jim ... It sounds like he's pretty close to you.

It's good to see all the folks in NoGa stepping up!

Nope ... the reference to the GaNg was an accidental slip of the tongue. Sometimes I'm funny w/o even tryin'!

lol ...

maybe you should make him do the "grease gun race" ... make him lube the truck ... making sure he don't miss ANY grease fitting ... using proper procedure ...

wipe grease nipple, mount grease gun ... two pumps ... dismount grease nipple ... wipe grease ... move on top the next

AND REPEAT UNTIL HE CAN DO IT WITHOUT A DIAGRAM!!!

This sound like a good event fot he October MV Fest in Ga.

Either that or the: 100 meter dead tire carry.

We'll have this nube whipped into shape before he picks up his truck at GL.

OK Jim ... maybe you know best with that ...

BUT ...LISSEN UP NUBE!!!!

There are a BUNCH of crusty old pharts around here ... that are REAL crusty and REAL old...

and they will expect ... DEMAND ... that you do things BY THE NUMBERS around here!!!

WHEN you have a question ... any old thing that pops into yer nube head ...

1) READ THE MANUAL!!!!

and

2) USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION on both this thread ... and the Deuce Hot rodding and modification thread.

THEN ... if you cannot find the answer ... say three Hail Mary's and five Our Fathers ... and seek knowledge from GOD ...

If GOD don't answer your question ...

THEN ... and only then

... go ahead and ask it here.

Be polite and respectful.

Be sure to mention .that you looked in the manual ... and you did a through and complete search right off the bat.

Follow those steps and you'll be fine.

But leave just ONE of them out ...

and them crusty old pharts will be on you like ugly - onna - ape.

They will swarm you like flys on poopie.

They will be all over you like a cheap suit.

... and they will jack slap the NUBE outta you ... then back INTO you.

Don't ask me how I know.

Welcome aboard kid!

Zack,

Welcome n' Congrats on your new purchase, chances are youre in the same category as me n' are somewhat to blame on the venting of some ol' fart'ery...

Party on!

opD
You guys ain't to blame for NOTHING.

Razzing Nubes is one thing ...

but some folks around here are deliberately nasty, arrogant and just plain rude whenever a Nube comes aboard ... and asks a nube kinda question.

I just got chastized about the rules on this board ... so I went over and read them.

OK ... rules are rules ...

but down at the bottom of the page I find this:

• Keep it FRIENDLY. Welcome new members with open arms. Don’t chastise them and belittle them just because they are new. All of you were newbies at some point too!

It seems like there are folks her that go nube HUNTING ... just waiting for a new guy to ask a question ... just so's they can kick the crap outta him.

And their excuse is always the same ...

"Them old hands get tired of answering the same old questions over and over"

OK ... well if it pi**es the old guys off so badly ... why do they feel compelled to respond to the Nube at all?

Just to be as arrogant and nasty as they can be???

I wonder how many new guys came here looking for a good time with their new hobby ...

posted ONE question ...

and then got driven out by the nastiness and arrogance of "the old guard?"

A LOT more than just one I'll bet.

It happens ALL THE TIME. And its a damed shame.

Yeah ... I'll give you guys a GOOD razzing ... but if you ask a legit question ... I ain't gonna bust your stones just because I've heard it before.

I said it before ...

WELCOME ABOARD...

Its GREAT having you here.

Continue the Party already in progress...
