Beat me to it!! I was just going to post a link to that story. 55,000 new vehicles over the next 5 years, wouldn't surprise me at all to see old Hummers showing up at DRMO in the near future. Of course the ones that do show up at first are going to be beat to ****. Probably take several years before any decent ones start showing up.

Anything up-aromored or any HMMVV that doesn't go to a governmental agency, domestic or foreign is going to be shredded.

Why do you say that? Can understand why armored vehicles won't be available--- ever! But around my area, with lot's of military training bases, we see HMMVV's convoying all over the place looking for all the world like basic HMMVV. Maybe that titanium armour is not readily visible?

Anyway, hope always springs eternal...

HMMWV's being released (non-armored) in any quantity (read: even one) has less likelihood than swines taking flight.

There are tons of HMMWV's being DRMO'd now. A guy at Camp Shelby told us that if govt agencies don't buy them they get shredded. I don't see them changing that policy any time soon. The govt deems them "unsafe" for public use.

Plenty of cargo trucks, tractor trucks, wreckers, etc - utility use vehicles

HMMWV - tactical vehicle

(2) "HMMWVs". RTD is permitted. Sales of HMMWVs in their original military configuration are not permitted. DRMS may pursue sales methods aimed at bringing these vehicles up to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Vehicles not released through RTDS will be mutilated in manner that prevents reassembly as a usable vehicle.
It's all based on the liklihood of DRMS bringing them up to standards. I don't see them caring enough to do that.

One of the reasons AM General stopped the H1 Line was having to get the truck compliant with Federal Crash standards, that would have required that they crash
test several $150,000 Durmax equipped trucks....remember, the H1 has a Ford Escort Sterring column. So alot of the parts used to make it compliant "in 1992-2006" were just off the shelf Parts.

For those waiting for the Day that DRMO yards are filled up with HMMWV's with Event and Lot numbers...Hold your Breath....LOL

on a similar Note, I have noticed that the DRMO Yard at Travis is filling up HMMWV's in the past few weeks. Slantbacks, 2 and 4 door rag tops.
All look to be A1...faded camo paint etc...but all runners.

Quite a few at Shelby as well. It's a shame they'll end up becoming razor blades.
