So finally got to try the cucv on the road...wow does this thing seem wound out but i think it is what it is. Thought trans was not shifting into 3rd but it is, when manually shifted you cant go more than like 28mph and once in drive position 55mph is it. Has reasonable good power iam used to built sbc and bbc engines so it is definitely a different feel and sound. It is hard to detect the last shift into drive can feel it come up through second but dont really feel the last gear is it that hard to feel it? I know it is shifting cause it wont go over 28mph when shifted manually.
Basically looking for some reassurance that all is well. Does this seem reasonable what its doing?

Yup, 55 should be about 3000 rpm.

So pretty standard procedure to just hammer it along like that?
I feel like I should be towing my dual axle trailer with my mud truck on it everywhere I go just to calm it down a little...

55 is max speed for them stock.

Bigger tires, different gears or a different transmission are all popular modifications.

37" tires will gain you about 10 mph.

Not this topic again? I would not even say anything but I never drive mine at 55. Maybe 70-75 but never 55. Just today in my newly acquired M1008 we went 65-70. No issues. Loud yes. Cranking RPM's yes. But I never hurt one yet. 21 years of private ownership and 10 before that as a tech. Drive yours at 55 I will do differently with the ones I have. Trust me. Or don't. Good Luck.
