Front locker guys check in "1028+31"

Is it hard to turn your wheels with the front locker? I'm looking into a lock right which is similar to the limited slip. just wondering how you like it.

sucks on the slipery roads in the winter. Wheels turn, truck dosnt......

I guess i should ask, are you asking about the 1028/31 limited slip or an aftermarket locker like Mav stated?

It isn't hard to turn as far as the steering wheel feel. You have to adjust and re-learn your driving style when in 4 wheel drive. If you give it too much throttle cornering sharply, it will chatter and pop and not want to turn because its trying to regulate both wheel speeds. If I let off the gas and just coast around the corners it does just fine. You shouldn't be driving on ice with a lead foot anyways.

When pulling into a parking spot in 4 wheel drive, the truck tends to lurch a little from each wheel locking and unlocking from the low speed. The limited slip takes a little getting used to, if you didn't know it was there you would swear something was broken.

Doc, lead foot or not, a stock 28/31 dose not turn good when slippery. Yours with the larger tires will track much easier.
Right. Super swamper TSL's are an excellent ice/snow tire for Alaska :-|

After the first few times, you learn what not to do. I go slow and do just fine.

I had a front locker in an 85 toyota and if you leave one hub unlocked it steers normally and if you think you are going to get into trouble just hop out and lock the other hub.

I had a CUCV, M1008, that had lockers front and back. Very seldom had to have the front locked in four wheel drive in but it would turn fine as long as you were not powering into the turn. When not locked into four wheel drive but with the hubs locked it was like any other vehicle, no problems at all. I have a CJ-7 with a big block and lockers front and back, again no real problems if you take it easy.
