Front rear left axle dripping some sludge

I did some looking and most posts seem to go off topic pretty fast about things.
My M923A2 ran fine then I took a good 40 mile trip (enough to get the brakes nice and warm), later that day I noticed what was almost as thick as grease which had come out of the inside of the brake housing.
I did remove and test the vent which seemed to be fine so I doubt it is a pressure thing.
I checked the oil level and that is fine.
Currently after a 15/30 minute drive I get a few drips out, say maybe a tablespoon worth.
The brakes are gone on that side, I assume that they got oil soaked so that is an issue I will need to deal with.
So at this point I am leaning towards the seal may be bad.
Just how hard is it to change out that seal ?
I know the tire and brake drum will need to be removed, past that, can someone give some insight on changing out the seal.
Just asking what the normal steps one would take are ?
Thanks

The first step would be to read the technical manual .
I have read the TM, my question was what have people who have run into this issue done, troubleshoot prior to tearing everything apart.
Second I was asking for advice on how hard it would be to change the seal from people who have done it. Tricks they came up with, the gotcha here and there that the TM does not cover.

Are the bearings packed with grease ? That may explain the "goo" that was dripping.
Currently after a 15 min driver I get a few drops of black thick oil.

In short, either the inner, outer or keyway seal is bad.

You will need to remove the wheel and drum/hub assy. and inspect.

It isn't hard, but everything you're dealing with is crazy heavy.

If you've never serviced the hubs since getting the truck, you should do all 6. Being on the side of the interstate with a burned out bearing isn't any fun.

Bearings are greased, the military 6x6 (2.5/5) is not oil bath.

Thanks, that is a perfect rundown of where to start.
Off hand you would not have the part numbers for the seals, if not I will look them up. Just asking.
Thanks

If you go to the parts tm ( -P ) the part numbers are there along with a diagram of how it goes together.
You ask what the fist step was and I answered what to do first . No mention in your post if you even have downloaded the tm's .

As I stated I have read the TM's thus I would have had to download them. I was just asking if off the top of his head he knew the part numbers, that has nothing to do with having/reading the TMs
I thought that this was a group of people that were willing to help not point out the obvious.
Sort of like, it will not start ~ did you turn on the starter switch...

You can pull the wheels and hub all together and make it a little easier if you have a dolly (thanks Ray!). You pull the axle and then remove the two hub nuts and slide the whole thing out. Easier than removing 20 lug and bud nuts, then wrestling the wheels and hub/brake drum.

I'm sure if you search you will find threads that the answer was just that the switch was off , there are probably a 100 on the lights not working because the blackout switches were off. With no information on your mechanical background and only being a member for a month or so starting with very basic questions is needed . Your going to need a axle nut socket to get it apart , member 319 has them listed in the classifieds and the sizes for what they fit if you chose to buy local .
