fuel filter help

ok ive checked the tms and cant find a pn for the fuel filters. where can I get some locally ie autozone advanced napa? I think mine are clogged up + they wont drain with the pump running.

Go to the resources tab at the top of the page, then go to tech articles, you should find a cross list for all the filters to serval different brands.

Your gonna need 2 - 33540 and 1 - 33113 wix numbers. take the first 3 off for napa. 3540 and 3113

I use a wrench slid between the generator and the bolt in question.

Like lava rock said. There's a bolt on the top of the filter housing that is right under the alternator. You'll need a 1" wrench or ratcheting wrench. I also managed to use a small crescent wrench on it as well.

OD Iron. He has the filters witrh the CORRECT gaskets. The filter under the alt. can be a biatch!

Will is right about gaskets. Pick up a couple of #5070 gaskets from NAPA for the secondary and final fuel filters and a #5131 for the primary. NAPA #3511 is the primary filter and #3512 for the secondary and final filter.

An easy way is to order from odiron, as they have the filters and correct gaskets.

Now that I'm at work, I just went through my notes. I don't know where I got the # 3113. The 3540 is the same exact filter as the 3512 but it is 6 micron instead of 10. And someone said it comes with the correct gaskets also. Sorry about that

Had I not changed to the spin on secondary and final filters from jatonka, I would change out the next time with that #3540 filter. It appears to flow the same and with the increased filtering much cleaner fuel can be expected. Good tip for everyone still using the original filter cans.

lol, sorry... i didnt understand the first time. sometimes you just have to spell it out for me... oh yeah that didnt work either. lol

Ok, so i got my filters today, and the gaskets didnt work on the 3540. they are to thick to go all the way up into the grove in the base
And napa didnt have the gaskets 5070 or 5131 and couldnt cross them either

I havent tried the 3511 yet

any ideas guys?

We have a gasket cutter at work. Very easy and I have found I just use a micrometer and ignore the scale on the cutter. Get a sheet of some good heavy gasket material and your in buisness.
