I must say I have never seen one like that or would I use one like that. That reminds me of a one size fits all part and I try not and use parts like that because of issues like this. Good Luck. Not sure how that works. I will bow out and let someone else address this issue. Be Safe.

I believe that's for an in tank fuel pump. I left it out of the way when I swapped mine out.
