This cable was in an S280 shelter. Also had a long extension cable.

I'm looking for info on what it's rated capacity is. Would like to use with a 10kw MEP803. Can anyone ID it from these photos?

Apparently there are also 5 conductor/wire cables in used

Power plant data plate.jpgSupply switch.jpg

The other part of the project is - This powerplant transfer switch was connected to 2x MEP002 5kw. Anyone know if same switch was used for MEP003 10kw? NO such info plate on the box (as on some later switches). The input cables are certainly heavy.

No. The switch for the AN/MJQ-16, (two 5 KW's, What you have) was not compatible to the AN/MJQ-18, (two 10 KW's).

Both PP's, (Power Plant) used a 4 and 5 cable setup, depending on what was being powered.

Yep to supply local church/emergency shelter (240v 1ph).

Now apparently need to find a A-B switch that will handle 10kw MEP803 as a powerplant.

I think those synchronizing switches on the 2 generator power plants were used to adjust the Hz when bringing one online so the other generator could be taken down for maintenance. How are you planning on using one at the church's emergency shelter?

Not looking for a sync switch. I don't think the MEP803 are capable of sycn. operation.

Just thinking of an Gen A to Gen B change over (as for maintenance). The switch I have on hand came from a MEP002 based Power plant and Guy says does not have capacity to handle 10kw. If can't find a switch it is not a huge deal. if the shelter/church goes dark for a 1/2hr while service genset that would be acceptable. My thinking is to mount 2x MEP803 and a 350gal fuel tank on an M702 dolly (that has a long frame). Have all on hand except a suitable A-B switch.

MEP at rating of 10kw is likely a bit small but need single phase. Have to live within the limitations of what DOD surplus has available.

Gen will supply 1ph to a 400a SquareD manual transfer switch I got from DOD surplus. Transfer switch to mount next to existing elec meter on building ext. Over kill on capacity but was no cost thru the DOD surplus program to FD (what was available for free). List price on the transfer switch is something like $13000. Doing the same install at our fire station.

I just rvcd a local grant to pay for install cost.

Not looking for a sync switch. I don't think the MEP803 are capable of sycn. operation. Yes they will. After all, the sync gear is NOT on the gen set. Its in the box. If you have the switch over box that would fit, for insistence the AN/MJQ-37 and -38, (or another museum piece like yours)You could do just what you want. There are several other PP, (Power Plants) that use this box. They are on the market. You didn't ask what would work, just if the switches you asked about, would be interchangeable. That box you wanted to use, is probably older then you! If you want a list of NSN's and part numbers, can do. Might take a few days, but the info is here. I can give you a parts listing and schematic so you can build your own if you want.

I you have a list of sychro switch options usable with 2x MEP803 that would be great.

The things you learn when you read the TM. Even downloaded the TN 9-6115-660-13&P for 803 powerplants long ago.

With the AN/MJQ-37 sycro switch apparently is for change over but not parallel operation? Is it possible to parallel operate/sync two 803? This may be my confusion on the sych capability.
