How do they know he's your Dad?
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
You use pogue as a derogatory term yet,Simon,
...I finally got to talk with a pogue that had...
Yet, you were a pogue yourself. Or is this a case of the pots down the road calling their kettle friends... well you know.(Public Affairs was my job in the Army....I was not bluffing)....
How is you not updating your credit card G/L problem?I went though the same thing when my credit card had expired
Tell them he's not your real father and then start crying. How do they know he's your Dad?
I guess that would make you more of a REMF than a Pogue, although both positions describe the job wellWell....technically I was in Charge of the Public Affairs Section for a Division Headquarters in the Army Reserve. I answered directly to a two star general. I made it my business to resolve problems before the boss had to be called into it. If that makes me a pogue so be it.
I understand the magnitude of a Congressional, believe me, but I was just wondering if there was a governing body, with an actual military member in charge, overseeing DRMO and subsequently GL? Much like you taking care of things before an issue reached the old man, wouldn't you think it in best interest for all to contact the lowest rung in the latter that can take care of the issue. Seems like starting at the GL customer service manager and going straight to a congressional is jumping chain just a bit.And a Congressional Investigation is a very big deal....we answered them on occasion...they are not to be taken lightly and even contractors are subject to them.
The have to be addressed in a timely manner or the heat goes up considerably.
I think this is the same problem with most government contractors, to include many DOD, DA, DN, and DAF civilian personnel. They get their cosh government job/contract and proceed to not get ANYTHING done in a timely manner. I guess this is why I am not shocked in the least that my EUC has been at Battle Creek for 60 days as of today. Just another lazy inefficient DOD contractor/civilian pushing paper from one side of their desk to the other between extended coffee/smoke/personal/fresh air/potty breaks.I think that the prob with GL management is they think they have the inside track on this contract and are above accountability...they make the rules and apply them as they see fit.
After 34 years of military service I understand the chain of command very well having been at most levels of it....Private, Section leader, Platoon Sgt, and Section NCOIC.I just look at that as the same knee-jerk reaction a private would take when his squad leader doesn't give him the correct answer.... call a congressman.
I guess you could say my last assignment made me a REMF...except when I was going through the same training as the soldiers we were mobilizing, traveling all over the country participating in Division and higher training exercises or shooting video from helicoptors (see avatar).I guess that would make you more of a REMF than a Pogue, although both positions describe the job well
It is real unfortunate that sarcasm and attempted humor can not be portrayed over the internets. I was just giving you some ribbing, as I am positive that I would NEVER in my life, be able to do PAO work. My hat is off to you sir.... Then again, I was never much for reporters, photographers (S&S, AP, or PAO) either. It is bad that I always seemed to find myself in the places these people wanted to be.words
Congressmen should not be the first resort, you have tried to work it out so it came to this. My hats off to you, please keep us posted.Well, no response today from tha good ole GL guys..... I can't even get ahold of anybody besides the girl. She says they're (management) is busy and not taking calls. I called my congressman today and Im supposed to email him tomorrow all the details.
I'm not sure if I understand the situation correctly. Did you use his account to bid and not your own? I understand you paid for the auction bid, but if it was on his account you bid, I'm sure it complicates things. Your Dad's standing with them is a totally separate deal, if you used your own account to bid.Well here we go!!! Ive heard the horror stories of dealing with GL. I bought another M1009 in Ft Sill last week (thursday), sent my EUC on the same day. Monday I wire transfered the funds. This morning I was checking to see if they had recieved the money and tried to log in, when it said "Account Suspended!". My Dad is the one who got me to buying equipment and stuff off of GL, because thats what he does. He uses it in his line of work with the M818's to pull rock trailers. He has bought tons of equipment off of GL. He made a purchase just before he was called to the "Gulf" for the clean up, and forgot about making the payment. He was one day late, so they suspended his account. They refunded his money and now to reactivate his account they want $1300. And he refuses to pay. Thats his decision.
Now for my account I called as soon as I seen the suspension and they said because he is my father they are suspending my account due to his suspended account. I have made ALL of my payments on time and sent in the EUC the same day as the auction. Does ANYONE know what I should do? My stuff is bought by me not my Dad. I pay for the items with the money I make, not his. I do not live with him, Im 30 years old and have my own family. WTH!!!!!!!! Please help.....
But I have never used my Dads account to buy my stuff. And he hasn't used mine. Thats why we set up our own seperate accounts. So we could buy our own stuff.According to GL rules they do not take "third party payments".....you could not be paying for stuff bought on someone elses account or visa versa.....I went through this goatfu*k too with GL when I bought a very large lot of stuff for a third party and they were not allowed to pay for it...the money had to be transferred to my personal account to pay for the lot.
They cannot connect the two accounts by their own rules.
Simoncrk,But I have never used my Dads account to buy my stuff. And he hasn't used mine. Thats why we set up our own seperate accounts. So we could buy our own stuff.
I may have misunderstood what your saying. If I have Im sorry. I do appreciate it though. Im going to call again tomorrow. Wish me luck......
