GM Water Pump install issue...

I was finishing up, putting brackets back on the '09 today and ran into a issue with the passenger side lower alternator bracket. When I went to slide it on the studs it hit the water pump housing. Enough that it was a real issue. This was a brand new AC-Delco pump purchased at the GM dealer. I noticed when I took it out of the box that the casting was beefier than the one I removed.

Nonetheless I had to notch the alternator bracket so that it would slide on the studs and have appropriate clearance.

Just a fyi if anyone happens to run into the same problem...

Yup...I was so pissed when I picked it up at the GM dealer I have established a good relationship with. The box said assembled in USA with parts manufactured in China....Oh well.

I was going to run a Peninsular Diesel water pump but they just kept delaying and delaying and delaying when the new pumps would be in.

I had the radiator re-cored to a high efficiency 4 row and it looks so pretty...LOL....so cooling should hopefully not be and issue....It was not cheap though.

China casting. See it all the time.

Yeah, I bought GM dealership (AC Delco) rear wheel cylinders for my M1009 and sure enough, boxes were AC Delco, but the parts inside made in china... :x

Pi$$ed me off, but they were cheaper than the local parts stores and have a warranty...
