Gonna need some parts

My old Deuce, which I sold to a friend, got into a spot of bother today. He was driving it down his road (he lives in the hilly country) - very steep, sharp corners - and it got away from him.

I am pretty sure that the truck is mechanically ok except for a battery with a burnt terminal (from flipping over), but everything above the beltline is hurt: exhaust stack, inlet stack, mirrors, door frames, top frame and bows, rear bows.

Fuel tank was full and not a drop came out. There was a baptism by engine oil, though. He said the engine was still running after it flipped and he had the presence of mind to shut ot down. BTW, he is 80.

Please, anyone with spares, let me know. (Located in central TX.)

My nightmare is a rollover in a truck with ZERO ROPS. A forum member here was killed on the drive home in a M35A3 he had just picked up at the auction when a semi rear-ended him, shooting the truck into the median where it rolled.

Your friend was incredibly lucky.

Hopefully the cab is salvageable and not too torn up after rolling the truck back onto its wheels.

Yes, he was lucky. I got more torn up by broken glass in dragging him out and helping with the vehicle recovery than he did in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt and that might have saved him, as it seems he was thrown to the passenger side when the driver's side rolled over. Much more damage to the driver's side, and he might have gotten trapped behind the steering wheel.

I don't think the cab is hurt at all. One, maybe both running boards, passenger fender along the edge from sideswiping cedars, top frames, mirrors, exhaust/intake stacks, J pipe. Maybe the windshield frame - not yet sure. Worst seems to be the door frames for the glass. I am not sure if we can straighten them out, or if they are replaceable.

See the passenger side driving light? It is not broken. But the quarter-inch thick steel plate it is mounted to is bent. Weird stuff happens in accidents.

Old man tougher than a $2 steak! So much relief to hear he not only survived but is in decent shape. Hopefully he still gets checked out, and thus the rebuild begins. What a story that truck will have

The guys finally made it out to Dragon's Plunder Ranch here in AZ.

Jim & John loaded up all I had that they could use to fix the Deuce.

They were nice enough to haul some Goat tires back to Leander for another member as well.

Paying forward accomplished.

Nice bottle of Bourbon left behind, too!

This is the first time I've read about this. I'd totally expect to get hamburgered if I roll my truck. I'm glad he made it out fine! Good luck with the repairs!
