Of course the balance of a driveshaft is important, but...
If the flanges (or output shafts) and those on the receiving end aren't close to parallel, it will be hard to keep joints in it. Essentially, it tries to make the ends of the driveshaft turn at different speeds as the axis is shifting slightly with each rotation.
Highly jacked up pinions are the worst offenders.
Hence the double Cardon joints found lots of newer vehicles, as there is no way to keep things aligned with the design.
The driveshaft angle doesn't matter within the limits of the joint, that is what they do.
