I have more than several, in Ky, if you really want one so I wouldn't panic. The real problem I see for you, or me if I want another, is that the trucks have all moved to Alabama for the sales. I haven't seen a truck for sale in Ohio, Indiana, or Ky lately.

We may see some of the A3's come out but they will continue at a trickle I suspect. The forest service folks will probably be picking those and/or foreign military sales.

800's are on their way out also but seems like at a slower rate but then again there are fewer. Looking for locations is worthless since they move them around. I'm not in position to look at for any current numbers. Maybe in a few weeks I will be able to get to it.

alright i wont panic buy... im to sick of doing that in the gun sector. of coarse there it is the right choice most of the time and the prices sky rocket the next month when it comes to things like parts kits. perhaps when it comes to trucks though it sounds like i can always get one private market. i guess ill just keep a look out on the private sales and take my time. do you think prices for basic A2s will stay around the $3000 mark into May, how about the end of 09? or will it go up?:|

i saw a few A3s for sale in the AL lot for those of you looking.

OK Ive decided to give the government thing a try. me and few of my buddies want to pick up a few vehicles. we would like to run down to Alabama and inspect the vehicles for lot 4107. it says viewing is on the Tuesday and the lot closes that Thursday. does this mean that i have get to redstone Alabama between 9 and 3 on that Tuesday inspect all the vehicles im interested in and bid on the ones i want by 5 o clock 2 days later? is this usual, it would be worth it if i could say drive down on the Sunday wake up take a look at these things then drive home. how much of a chance do i have on them letting me look the trucks over a day or two before the auction opens?

You better make an appointment with the site manager.....or they wont even let you look at one truck.

yes, of coarse.

what i meant to ask is can i make an appointment for like say Friday instead of Tuesday? or is that managers personal decision?

sorry for all the newb questions but i don't want to mess up this government auction thing

Everything is up to the site manager.

Some are complete power hungry d"ckheads! & some are nice & will help you out.

Just dont be late when you have an appointment. And fully plan on taking AT LEAST 30 minutes from the front gate to the GL lot. Some bases are nuts with security. Ft Meade looks under my truck with mirrors everytime I go there.

The people at Redstone are easy to get along with but you do have to make an appointment and they're pretty strict on that. You have to be escorted on the DRMO lot and they can't let too many people in a once. Seems I remember them telling me one time when I was there that they are closed on Fridays. I could be thinking about somewhere else though. Best thing to do is call them.

In January I was in Camp Dodge, IA where I was previewing the first sale of the year and talked to a motor pool Sgt. there. He said they have around 300 or so trucks and that GL has to have them all gone by the end of the year. They have had around 70 of those trucks sell since January so they're well pace to meet that goal.

When I picked up my truck at Ft Knox on the 6th there were about 50 really nice ones sitting there, all destined for foreign sales.

I wouldn't wait too long, if you see a nice one you want I'd buy it.
They probably won't get any cheaper in the next year.

This info is covered in a lot of previous threads. It depends on your state and I think CA is the only one that requires a CDL for the deuce. Besides, the weight is not 26000 pounds it's about 1/2 that at 13K plus a 5K load but you could do 10K on highways for an absolute max load of 23030 pounds plus if you tow a absolute max load trailer at another 10000 pounds THEN you might have a problem. Chances are you will cube out before you weigh out unless you like to carry around a lot of lead or gold in your vehicle.

If you are not using a truck/trailer for commercial purposes in VA (I know all states are different).....you do NOT have to have a CDL. I was told by a state trooper & DOT guy at the weigh station that I can drive my M818 pulling my M872 semi trailer with my regular license since I am a "collector" and I am not making money from it.

Deuces are under 26,001 lbs anyway, so unless you live in CA (like Carnac said)....you do NOT need a CDL.

That's about right for a private sale if it has air-shift, LDT multifuel, runs, and stops. I wouldn't put too much faith in the mileage reading though.

I still have the one for sale I PMed you about for $2,500.
