Ground hopping a multi

Alright fellas, I have two Lds465-1a motors mounted in sections of deuce frame that I need to run like they are because one of them is going into my truck at some point. These engines still have the cooling systems and everything in tact, so I should be able to run them for a while. The main thing is that I want to be sure the HH retainer button hasn't fallen off because it'll be easier to replace now before it is in the truck. So how do you guys hook everything up in order to ground hop them? I'd like to see some pics of fuel supply method and power supply to the starter motor. The cables were cut off of mine right at the terminals on the starter. Don't get me wrong, I have some ideas as to how to go about this but want to see if there may be some better methods.

When I do it, I run a supply and return fuel line to a jerry can. Then I hook a slave cable receptacle to the starter. Hook the slave cable to a running truck and use a screw driver to supply power to the solenoid.

Make sure someone is holding a string attached to the fuel shutoff lever, and make sure someone is ready to cover the air intake, you have everything covered at that point.

Might be able to see a little in this video. I used a slave receptacle attached to the starter and a screw driver to jump it off. For fuel I used a jerry can with the suction and return line in a jerry can outside the can. Keep a piece of wood handy to block off the turbo in the event of a runaway.

Some tips would be to turn the motor over by hand first, to make sure nothing binds. Also, pull the fuel shutoff cover and make sure the lever inside moves freely.

The motor I had mentioned to Clinto looked super nice inside but I could never get it to start. I moved it up to Mikes farm and as far as I know, it's still there unless it floated away. I did see the can in Feb at the rally. Did you note my piece of wood on the can near the turbo? This engine was the sludge pot but you already knew that.

Make sure you have a return spring attached to the throttle lever. Without it, the governor may go to the full speed position by itself when you start the engine.
I once forgot to hook the spring back on, and the engine went to max rpms immediately.
The slave receptacle is a great idea. I will use that next time i want to test run an engine.

The last time I saw the sludge pot it was running like a top and was headed to Texas.

10-4 on the throttle return spring. It is already on there. This engine is just as it was in the truck. In fact, we just removed the axles, front sheet metal and cab, transfer case and rear axles, then cut off the frame right behind the transmission. So what I have is in fact a complete deuce power pack. Everything is still hooked up. Just need to see if it runs.
