I painted a trailer with the Home Depot stuff, was not impressed. I'd rather shoot the real stuff, if not CARC then something identical in color. The 383 is a few shades darker.. kid at Home Depot tried to lighten it up to no avail. Got through in a pinch, but I don't think I'd do it again. Even with good scuff and acetone prep, doesn't seem to have good mechanical adhesion. M1009 and M1161 already match, I'd like a few others in the fleet to match

Some of us have had very good matching with the FS 34094 color blend at the big box stores, give-or-take a hair for sun fading, wear, or original batch variation. I think you got a bad mix or spec. "383 green" and "NATO green" are crossover names but not a usable references, and CARC is a system, not a color. An alternative is to use automotive enamel paints available from local suppliers under the same FS number, or online from several suppliers starting at about $40 a gallon. Other durable paint types available can rapidly increase cost (urethanes and poly's), and rattle cans are also common to find. If adhesion is poor, be sure to use a compatible primer system, as the point of the original CARC system was for stuff (N/B/C and fallout) not to stick.;) Lots of options!
