Heat problems with supplemental armor grille

I've had the grille off to do some repair work to the hood. While driving without the grille, I operate roughly around 210, with the fan kicking on occasionally. Once the grille went back on, I operate around 220 with the fan always on.

Is that about standard with the armor on? I've considered switching it out, but most people want a whole lot of coin for a fiberglass one.

Yep....they do run hotter, and even hotter when the front supplemental Armor grill goes on. Just not enough air flow.
you will notice even the up armored trucks have the standard grill installed these days.

My H1 with early, open grille runs 10 degrees cooler than my M998 with the later one with slats very close. The H1 with 6.5 NA runs 200 degrees or less. The M998 with 6.2 runs 210 usually. My H1 has the type grill that 86humv has pictured above. I was going to change the M998, but it looked like a lot of trouble, besides the earlier grills were replaced, I think, due to breakage. For example, with airlift if the sling fell and hit it grill they would break I have read somewhere.

My grills are aluminum.
Some early ones were fiberglass....those broke easy.
