Hello together!

As my mother taught me, you introduce yourself when you enter a new room. So I do that ;-)
I am Gerd and come from the north of Switzerland.
I collect strange vehicles, and hopefully in a few months I will add a M998 A2 to this collection.
Next to it will be a Bricklin SV1, a Lotus Elan S2, a 63 Harley and a 69 Firebird with a 455 and a 5-speed Tramac.

I can screw so far. Since I'm not afraid of.n Own hall with stage, overhead crane and lathe is available.

So and with that I say good "Hello together" in the round.

Do you get to own Swiss Military vehicles?

And the Bricklin I have only seen one many years ago, so that is a rare car
indeed in the States. The Firebird is a nice car also. Only mine was a white 350 4 speed with black interior.

And if you are chasing women that is a good hobby to have. Do you prefer wine, beer or liquor- moonshine?

Proscht!

Do you get to own Swiss Military vehicles?
Yes, we are allowed to own military vehicles of the Swiss army under certain circumstances. But these are all disarmed.
In Switzerland, the situation with weapons is somewhat different than in the rest of Europe.
Here the military service is done in the first shift (basic course 6 months) in the barracks. Afterwards one goes to the age of approx. 35 years annually for approx. 2 months into the repetition course. This is always done in the same unit and in accordance with his training.
In this whole time one has his service weapon (assault rifle) always in the house. Together with the sealed ammunition.
There is also a mandatory shooting at least once a year. Here a certain number of points must be reached.
After that you can keep your weapon. But then converted to single shot.
Nevertheless, Switzerland is a country in which weapons are never openly carried and also otherwise a rather soft and liberal basic mood prevails.

There are many in Switzerland who own old Swiss Army trucks. But a HMMWV will probably never be officially street legal. I can use here a loophole in the law which refers to my place of residence.
So I would have the first HMWWV in Switzerland. Let's see!

Thats my bricklin... No 430 with the 5.9 AMC
The Firebird is from '69 an and a convertable.
I bought this car during my 8 weeks in the US that I was there on vacation. Flew to NY, bought it and directly roadtripped 10'000 miles through the US. No destination and no plan... just go for it. Went to Sturgis for Bikeweek, Florida, Alabama, Texas and finally Bristol for the NASCAR Night Race.

Got stuck in the middle of it, got invited to drag racing and then left it in a St. Louis shop with a broken rocker arm. Now he is here with me in the workshop and gets instead of the worn carburetor a SniperEFI 2x4.
And sheet metal I also welded a good 2 panels in. Incredible what you think in the US at a "restoration".

On top of all that, I have a lot of other vehicles. And I don't really have time for any of them.

And if you are chasing women that is a good hobby to have. Do you prefer wine, beer or liquor- moonshine?

Hunting Women? No time for this any more... My wife and daughter keep me busy enough. I don't need another annoying "construction site".
I prefer beer.
And since you have two options as a German in Switzerland. Either you overcome the disgust that generates the Swiss beer or to brew myself I just brew my own beer. These are then together with friends also times so around the 2000l a year.

nice frame..... thas my one.
Was drinig behind many years a my time as prospect...
I bought it 25 years later as an old Swedish chopper and rebuilt it to what it is today.

My one was build in 1962 as a panhead in the us as a police bike. After this period in her life she was going to australia. In this time, i aspect, she went to a eary shovel.
Was then brought to Switzerland in the 1990s. Then she came with my MC Presi in 1994 to Germany. Then I drove a long time behind and then pulled them 4 years ago in boxes from the shed. Since it was then already almost 20 years disassembled and had several moves behind him.

So I read this thread after commenting on your tire thread. I have to say you have got to be one of the most rebellious Swiss I have ever met (virtually in this case!). I worked in Solothurn a week every month for a few years and you seem to be an outlier for certain! Congratulations on what you have accomplished and the road ahead with your hmmwv adventure. I also got a good laugh on your Swiss beer assessment. I would agree I tested quite a few of the Swiss beers and the purity laws and warm serving temperature left a lot of room for improvement.
