HMMWV Gear Hub GO Amount

I am working on my new 1988 HMMWV and was replacing all the fluids. The manual states to for the gear hubs to add a pint of GO. What happens if you fill it up to the bottom of the fill plug?

Do I need to drain it down to a pint? or leave it alone.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fill it up to the fill plug for sure, not sure why the manual would say a pint-- unless that is how much one holds, but I was thinking it was closer to a quart. I never measure I just pour it in until they are full.
