HMMWV Mystery Item

Howdy Folks,

Thanks for the wealth of information on this site. To that end, I thought I would tap the collective knowledge of this esteemed group and ask for best guesses on the mystery item that is in the below photo of my auction M998A1, but was missing when I picked it up:



It was attached to the passenger side wheel well.


And while we are at it, what was the purpose of these reinforcement plates on the rear "bedsides?" This vehicle has no shortage of stray wires and holes drilled to accommodate all the power and comm wiring.



Now I am off to hunt down a 5 ton to keep the little Humvee company.

Thanks guys for the info an the reference pic. That bad boy has to be tipping the scales for sure.


Any idea what this thing was on the inside fender? Looks almost like an inverter for the comm equipment?

I'm thinking this one is still in EUC pending status. Those pics look like GP photos.

Read the original post. That is the GP auction pic. When he got it, the thing was missing. He wants to know what is missing. I had stuff come up missing before, and I was allowed to get my money back. It wasn't GP, though.

You are right. Sorry, I missed the OP's point. We do need better photos, but of course the item is now missing...
