Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Irrc the newer engines with the one piece rear main seal do have a different oil pan design which will not fit the CUCV 6.2l engine. A motor out of an older HMMWV's shouldn't be a problem though.

What is considered "older" ?, this donor motor appears to be from a 1990 model year HMMWV.Irrc the newer engines with the one piece rear main seal do have a different oil pan design which will not fit the CUCV 6.2l engine. A motor out of an older HMMWV's shouldn't be a problem though.

If your block casting # is 10149599, 12552929, 10237141, or 12555506you have a newer engine with a one piece rear main and the newer style pan that may not work. The last three are 6.5 only blocks, the "599" could be a 6.2 or 6.5.
While there is a nugget of truth there, the guys at most of the GM diesel forums tend to overstate the weakness. Also found this interesting info about that casting number over at DP:
"That block is the most prone to cracking at the mains. You might want to pull the pan and check."
Not talking the oil pan here but I do know the transmission pan from the M998 and M998A1 will fit. I had one on my last CUCV and liked the fact it had a drain plug in it.
