Nope, it will clear just fine. Devilman96 put on in his CUCV build.

I'll confirm with Mike but I know he used the HMMWV pan on the CUCV. I remember asking about that!

Irrc the newer engines with the one piece rear main seal do have a different oil pan design which will not fit the CUCV 6.2l engine. A motor out of an older HMMWV's shouldn't be a problem though.

That sounds right. I have done swaps both ways, the newer HMMWV oil pan will not fit- nor would it fit in my 94 Chevy 2wd pickup when I put an 04 AM General 6.5 in it.
The even newer version AM General has out definitly will not clear.
Make sure you use the HMMWV dipstick!

What is considered "older" ?, this donor motor appears to be from a 1990 model year HMMWV.

If your block casting # is 10149599, 12552929, 10237141, or 12555506you have a newer engine with a one piece rear main and the newer style pan that may not work. The last three are 6.5 only blocks, the "599" could be a 6.2 or 6.5.

Search for the CUCV build thread by devilman96. He put an AMG engine in his CUCV without a pan change. Had no clearance issue at all. The was a late blcok, one pc seal and center mount turbo.

While there is a nugget of truth there, the guys at most of the GM diesel forums tend to overstate the weakness.Also found this interesting info about that casting number over at DP:

Not talking the oil pan here but I do know the transmission pan from the M998 and M998A1 will fit. I had one on my last CUCV and liked the fact it had a drain plug in it.

Only got the motor. . .
But, this motor, if good, is going in my 1028A3, and I'm going to add a drain plug to the pan on the tranny when I change out the filter.
Tag indicates it's a 90 model year motor, but it's been apart, as evidenced by the use of RTV, EVERYWHERE, there is a gasket. . .
