For a reset, the company doing the rebuild has a set budget per vehicle, and they go through it and check all components to see if they are in spec or not. If they haven't used up the budget, they like to do things like replace the engine/transmission or other major components with rebuilt ones.Out of curiosity, what do they do for the "Reset" or "Refresh" program. Just go through an extensive checklist on the vehicle and freshen it up for the next tour?
My M1123 got a rebuilt engine and transmission during reset when the originals had only a handful of miles.
There is another type of reset known as IROAN. Inspect, Repair Only As Necessary. Basically just go through the truck and fix the stuff that's broken/out of spec, as opposed to doing a full rebuild on it.
