HMMWV Starter nose cone. Aluminum or Brass??

Hi Guys - Had my starter fail on the HMMWV because the aluminum nose cone snapped off. I know that I could replace the nose cone but the starter was old and new starters are fairly cheap. I bought a brand new Leece-Neville starter. I was surprised to find that the new starter has a brass nose cone instead of aluminum. Does anyone know if this is a newer version meant to fix the broken aluminum nose cone problems?

Did you have the support bracket on the non gear end of the starter attached and tight? That is normally why the nose cones break off.

I thought all 6.2/6.5 starter motors were Delco or some knock off of them. Didn't know Leece-Neville made a version. Please take pictures and report how it works.
