HMMWV Tool Bag

I know this is a little different, but...

I decided to replicate (remake?) the tool bag documented in the HMMWV manual.



The bag, tire iron, pliers, Philips screw drivers and slotted screw driver are correct military surplus (as far as I've been able to tell). The 8" adjustable wrench is one I had, not correct, but close enough for now.

Showed this to someone who served in the 90's, her immediate comment was "Yup, same shit tools.. we always built our own tool bags so we had good tools to use when the vehicle broke down."

Anyway, figured I'd share in case anyone else is looking in the future.

Mount it to the floor behind the driver seat. There should be 2 footman loops there. Or at least 4 holes.

I've got my rig in a 2-man setup right now, so hard to get behind the drivers seat. I've been putting it with the first aid kit in the side area by the batteries.



Seems to fit beside the first aid kit perfects. (The bracket that is there was already installed on the vehicle from the military. So at least in the case of the first aid kit, it belonged there, at least at some point in time.)

That's the same toolbag used in all the M151 jeeps and there's a jillion of them out there in canvas and vinyl for cheap! I used one of them to recover the attendants seat in the ambulance body. You want to make sure you get the correct size lug wrench and that hubcap pry tip on the end will definitely be helpful opening those cans of GAA grease!!!
