Hello all, I am looking to get a MV and id really like a Humvee but I've noticed they are way more expensive than a M35A2 or A2's. Why is this?

They are less expensive than Lamborghinis.

If you want a HMMWV, you have to pay what they sell for.

The only thing it is comparable to it, a civilian H1.

HMMWV's are newer, a lot fewer of them have been surplussed, and the way it looks now, there will not be many more made available, at least in my lifetime (25+ years left if all goes well). As B3.3T said, it's simple supply and demand - the price of each increases till demand matches the supply available. If you wanna play that game, ya gotta pay - if you can't afford it, you play with something else and you can own a fleet of deuces for what one HMMWV will set you back!

I'd rather hitchhike with the key to my deuce padlock in my pocket than drive a HUMVEE.

I drove the wheels off one in Korea (Command Version, I was th BN CMDRS driver)...didn't like them then and time has not mellowed my opinion.

The deuce is more user friendly, has a better cool factor, will burn crap that would kill a HUMVEE graveyard dead and carries a lot more cargo.

well there are like 500 HMMWVs surplused and thousands of m35s surplused. My HMMWV is worth every penny i have in it. I love it.

Forget the "we're givng them away to others" The DEMIL code says they will no be released in whole. Good luck getting changed.

Hmmwv has a more cool factor than a deuce.
Ya...what he says.....
And....anybody can buy a deuce, ...I had one once....to big, to heavy, but they are kinda cool. Here in Ca. you need a comm. lic to operate one, and big weight fees to DMV, unless its old enough to get historical plates. Then your limited to driving it to events, and meetings if your a Mil vehicle club member.

The Demil code is not going anywhere any time soon :(
Id love to have a H1 but for the money Ill stick with full size trucks that have Cummins motors.

As for the 6.2 /6.5 motors, "been there , walked back".

I'm bringing this topic back to life to see how opinions have changed within the past decade. When this was originally posted, HMMWVs weren't being surplussed like they are now. It doesn't seem that parts availability is as big an issue now.

My wife wants a HMMWV some day but I want to keep the deuce around for moving big stuff, or dirty stuff I don't want to put in the daily drivers. The 4-door HMMWVs I see as more family-friendly, like an SUV. I'd love my kids to enjoy my hobby too!

My answer is get both if you can. If parking space is an issue but money isn't, I think a HMMWV would be the pick.

I have had an M35A2 with a M51 extended dump bed on it for 25 years, it's fine for running 12mi to the quarry and loading 6-7 tons of Caliche then running 45mph or so down the shoulder back to the ranch, I think if I was to get another 6x6 it would be a M939 series or a MTV, much more to work with.
Comparing a 6X6 to a HMMWV is a useless venture, not even the same species...

Because the HUMMER fits in the garage! It sounds silly but there is a lot of truth to that answer!
