I bought my truck 5 years ago, it was the first truck I looked at and with in 3 day I made up my mind to buy it. It was a 1970 M35A2 with a new paint job all noticable problems fixed, plus it had a heater<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_cool.gif" alt="Cool">. I bought it off of a dealer in OH for $3500... 5 years later it getting a make over, with a lot of new parts and up grades, not to mention the new paint job<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_tongue.gif" alt="Tongue">. With in a few weeks I should have some pics of it... I work this truck every chance I get, but I love to play in the creek and mud with it...<img src="emoticons/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile">

Hello Guys, I purchased a Deuce last Sunday from a friend that has too much stuff. Its a M35A2 set up for troop carrier with the covers.
I dont know why I wanted this thing, Just a feeling that came over me. I hated these things when I had to drive one 30 years ago.
I had forgoten they didnt go real fast, I drove it home,about 165 miles at 45mph. I probably wont be able to take a crap for weeks.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"> Its in great shape, need a headlight and some wiper blades to start with. Better go and fill up a couple drums of Diesel before the Arabs shut us down. <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif" alt="Disapprove"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_king.gif" alt="King"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_jumpin.gif" alt="Jumpin">

I purchased mine 12 December 2002. I looked for about 4 months and found what I wanted. The truch is painted with the old carc camo pattern, but will undergo a new paint job one of these days want to restore it to the original paint with the white stars.
The truck is used for parades, have had the pleasure of having many Vets ride along. This year in the Fourth of July Parade I will have the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association riding in old Can Deuce.

Longhunter7, I would like to see a picture of your rig with the singles and lockouts. I didnt know you could do that. Will the 11:00x20 tires fit the 90020 rims ? Or do you have to change the rims too? What's involved in installing lock out front hubs? I'm new at this. just got my truck.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_question.gif" alt="Question">

Hi we also have the 1100 x 20 tires on our truck and we are using the original rims. We also have the lockout hubs and they are very simple to install. We are getting better mileage with our truck using the lockout hubs and with the larger tires. The synthetic lubricants that we use also help with the mileage. We have also had WWII vets and other vets ride in our truck in parades. Our truck is also used for Memorial Services, special displays, and for people to use as a learning tool about history. It is used for public displays and other volunteer events. Even the Georgia State Defense Force uses it for a Recruiting display. It also gets used for the Army Military Museum in Atlanta, Georgia.

I have been hesitant to get a M35A2 becuase I didn't know how to register it and get temp tags to bring it home.

my obsession started as a little kid. all i played with was plastic army guys and toy trucks. when i was 17 i was in a junkyard looking for an intake for a pickup i had and thats when i found about 14 deuces and 5 tons just rotting away, and i thought to myself how cool it would be to own somthing that big and bad. the junkyard guy wouldnt sell me one though<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif" alt="Disapprove">, and im glad he didnt because once i bought the truck i have now and got familiar with it the ones in the junkyard were just that, junk. anyway i got my truck about 2 years ago when i was 21. took me about 4 years to find my truck, but thats was just because of cash flow.

I'm a greenie. Just got mine less than a month ago, and I'm ecstatic about it.
I had a monster truck in the early days of the sport. Wish I woulda kept those lockouts. Traded it for a son. Since then, I've been rubberneckin' the dueces on flatbed tractor/trailers, ridin' by on I-40, and dyin' to own one. About a year ago, one surfaced in a guy's backyard in town. I knew it would pop up for sale eventually, so I told my buddies to watch for movement. Sure enough, it popped up for sale. I looked it over, drove it around and snagged it. Turns out it's a great truck. I fixed a ton of little problems with 4 cans of WD-40. It get's a little warm in the AZ sun, so I did the radiator, belts and hoses for GP's. Now I'm down to lookin' for stuff to fix. This thing is NICE! <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"> Street legal too! It's got the troop-bench sides and a set of fully warped out bows. I just set the hight of the front and rear bows, and sighted the center ones to them, and bolted 'em there. It all looks straight. Then I put radar deflecting "leaf-o-flage" over the bows. It's great for shade and the breeze comes right thru.
The best part of owning a duece so far has been loadin' up all the little nieghborhood "storm-troopers", sportin' every Army helmet they can find, and takin' 'em out bouncin' in the desert. They love it, and so do I.

I got mine back in april this year

the duce orinagly was going to be for work
I purchest it through GL after abought a year of looking and armed with info from this site I made my bid, just from GL's pictures.
the truck was in fort benning GA. 875mi away that was in FEb.
I had allmost 2 months of second guessing and then figureing out how to get it home
but other then the bat.dead it started right up
full of fuel,oil and watter and air in all of the tires
it turned out to be so nice I decided to restor it insted of using it for work

Got mine in January of 02. Found it in NJ and had it shipped out here by truck. It's been a joy to own and drive. I have a Landscape supply company here in central Oregon and will use it for promotional purposes, have had it in two parades, and on display at Vet's Day observances.

We had been "thinking" about getting one for years, even since I was a little kid of 10, just in a sort of "Wouldn't it be cool to have one?" kind of way, but it never got more serious than that.

Then, in 03' we saw one for sale locally, an ex-National Guard M35A2 that someone had gotten ahold of, but was now selling. It was going for about $3K, but the transmission in it was broken, so it didn't run. We kinda see-sawed over wether or not it would be worth it to buy it and try to fix it, and started doing serious deuce research for the first time.

While we were researching, someone else bought the truck, so that's when we started going to DRCO places and such and finaly found and bought ours in early 04'

We can also run up to 60 mph. We have also put on the 1100 x 20 millitary tires for shows, etc. We also have the lock-out hubs on it and the whole truck runs on synthetic oils and lubrications. At a $1.66 a gallon for diesel and running on synthetic we can get pretty good mileage around town.
