I know that there are more than 4000 humvees --reported by the press initially-- for sale, but does anyone has a good figure of how many actually for sale?

Or how long they will keep selling them for?

On GOVplanet

thanks

Not gonna lie...was wanting to know the same thing. As stated the quota announced was at 4,000 to be sold and to date "per govplanet" 3,328 have been sold. I know the "high" was at the beginning and currently seems to be the is the "low", and one to believe the "high" will come back around as I want to pick up a few more.

There are spitting them out on a regular basis and I have to think there are literally 1000's to go....

We have also not seen the USMC / USN or Air Force unarmored ones flood out either.

Just think of all those out there in active/reserve units that are not armored ..........

Look closely again. That figure is only for the last 12 months!!

If the rate of weekly sale is steady they have sold roughly 4,600 Humvees
They have only been selling them for the last 8 months or so , they released 4000 for sale . whether or not they release more is yet to be determined. It will depend on if they feel there is enough profit over scraping and how many problems with people trying to get around the restrictions in the sale contract .

That is not correct. First sale started Dec 17th, 2014. Ever since then, they sell at least 70 per week!! Most of they time, more than that.

They must have sold at least 4500 of them.

A a person from gov planet (i dont want to give away his name) told me that they will have many more for sale.
However, my direct inquiry email to GOV planet, they say they don't know yet, keep checking back.

And a mechanic working for GOV planet at the base here in Georgia told me that there are 1000 ready for sale in California. And a few hundred in Alabama. He said that 4000 figure is just way too little.

I guess it has been a year and a half.

Is anything with the gov ever that exacting? I'd be surprised if there wasn't some fine print reading something like "the first 4,000". Then there's the next 4,000... A quick Google search shows AM General has built something like 281,000 total since 1984. With the replacement vehicle looming on the horizon, I don't see the well drying totally up any time soon.

Disclaimer: these are only my thoughts. You don't have to agree, but you might.

blackmagic, look closely again, that 3330 figure is only for ONE year starting May 27th 15, they removed the sold ones for 6 months before that.

HMMVW - Closed Auctions

I track closing auction prices and post summaries in this thread.

The table below summarizes data I've gathered from GovPlanet ("GP") auctions for the period from December 17, 2014 (i.e., GP's first HMMWV auction) to May 25, 2016:

# of ClosedLowestHighestAverage
TruckAuctionsClose PriceClose PriceClose Price
HMMWV25$1,500$32,500$9,240
HMMWV M10253$9,000$16,750$12,333
HMMWV M1025A21$38,000$38,000$38,000
HMMWV M10262$12,250$20,000$16,125
HMMWV M10351$6,250$6,250$6,250
HMMWV M10371$4,500$4,500$4,500
HMMWV M1038363$1,400$30,500$8,170
HMMWV M1043A21$18,750$18,750$18,750
HMMWV M10461$2,500$2,500$2,500
HMMWV M10974$10,250$17,250$12,438
HMMWV M1097A11$10,250$10,250$10,250
HMMWV M1097A22$15,500$20,750$18,125
HMMWV M1097R11$30,250$30,250$30,250
HMMWV M9663$14,000$19,750$17,000
HMMWV M9983,615$800$55,250$9,088
HMMWV M998A1454$3,500$41,000$11,403
Grand Total4,478$800$55,250$9,277

This data shows that 4,478 of GP's HMMWV auctions have closed. This is an indication of the number of HMMWVs GP has sold; however, this is not the true number of HMMWVs sold by GP. For instance, GP sells HMMWVs outside of their weekly auctions. HMMWVs sold outside of GP's weekly auctions are not included in the preceding table. Also, just because an auction closes, doesn't mean the HMMWV actually sold. If a buyer wins an auction and subsequently defaults, the HMMWV may be relisted in another auction.

What about average condition? From what I see I wouldnt waste my time with about 70% of them. I think this would push the average price for a good condition hmmwv up a little. Just my 2 cents.
