Where did mention of the 205 come from ???
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
glaser06Most CUCVs had a 208 from the factory. Only the heaviest duty ones came with the 205.

Yeah, it was. It sounded like you were asking what the 205 was, no offense. That's how I have ID'ed them in the past (because I find the 205, rear locker, and limited slip up front more valuable). Never knew about the overload springs, thought they all had them except the blazers.glaser06
If that was directed at me, I'm very familiar with the 205, 4 out of 5 of my cucv trucks have them.
I meant in this thread about how to spot an m1008 or m1028 ?
Yes the a1 has it but I think they are more rare than the a2 & a3's.
Probably the the fastest way to identify an m1028 is by the rear overload springs.

All versions of the M1028 has the front LSD, as well as The M1031 and m1010Yep, knew that. Am I correct in thinking all 205 equipped ones have limited slip in the front?

M1008a1 does NOT have the NP205 transfer case, has a 208 just like the m1008M1008A1 and the M1010 usually don't have LSD in the front. Of course there are always exceptions. The M1008A1 does have the NP205 transfer case.
FYI SS Members. GM offered overload springs on single rear wheel K30's. The overload springs was option number G60 and you could get it with single rear wheel trucks. I do not know much, ( that is why I have no Friends ) but I have a 1981 K30, ( I took a photo of the RPO sticker with the phone, uploaded it to the PC and get error invalid url when I try to upload to site. ) option code G60 = main and auxiliary R; RO4 = single rear wheels. If the RPO sticker would upload I wanted to point out the engine, option number L25 = 4.8liter (292 ci) **MFD IN Mexico** in 1981.yup, M1028 will have the same overloads GM otherwise only put on dual wheel trucks.
Brain and fingers weren't on the same page. LOL I had meant to write M1028A1. Sucks to be old.M1008a1 does NOT have the NP205 transfer case, has a 208 just like the m1008
M1008a1 has a communications kit.
My 1028A2 start's out as 1GBHD (Cab Chassis). If you are looking at the VIN, the 1008 will start out 1GCGD and the 1028 will start out 1GCHD.
Do tell.What about the M1008A0?
