Front axle engaged and full lock turns should be very difficult. Your beast will jump, hop and protest in a manner which you will understand in a heartbeat. Armstrong steering is likely what you are dealing with. For tight turns, get the beast barely rolling in low range, and start working your arms on the steering wheel. If it was easy, it wouldn't be green!
