Humvee stock cowl insulation

Been sulking around ebay and I kept seeing oddly shaped thick rubber insulation listed. They interested me and when I went to the TM all I could find was that picture and a whole lot of NSNs.



Now before I go off to Kascar or macmotors, does anyone have a good cheaper source for all of these panels?

I've only found 3 of the total lot on ebay but no more.
Mass beats sound, and looks like AM General found their own solution that they never put in their trucks? (maybe only uparmored ones) But I'd sure like stop my legs from burning off on a cool 70 degree day...

I don't know if it goes under the floor mats or what. And the side pieces look like they'd go great in the empty body panels on the exterior inside area.

I have a pretty early 1985 USMC HMMWV that has all the insulation parts in your first picture. I think I read somewhere here that this kind of insulation was discontinued in later years. I´m not sure why they did that. Those rubber pads are for sure not a perfect insulation against motor heat, but it´s better than nothing.

The thick black pieces were used in the engine compartment and in the a-pillar of the earliy humvees. Newer models use stiff silver pieces that run way back over trans.

I threw a 1" sheet of dynamat hoodliner on the passenger cowl on the engine side and it drastically reduced heat coming in.
