I hate to ask, how do you get 14.00's to inflate on ODIron wheels?

I am trying to get my 14.00 XL tires to seat up on the ODIron wheels and I am having no luck. When I say no luck, the tire shop that mounted them couldn't get them to pop up even with 2 cheata tanks. Is there a trick to getting these things to hold air and once they are up, if they leak down do I have to do this all over again. You guys seam very pleased with ODIron wheels so there much be something I am missing.

Help!

i had the same problem with my wheels, they are 20X11 and are pretty much the same wheel as the od iron wheels but they were made by long wheel. i am using the 15.50's the only way that we were able to air them up was by using ether. it is dangerous but it works:twisted:

Oh yea, I find it easier to spray a trail of ether down the tire and across the ground and light that instead of throwing a match like that guy did. You can also use the can of ether as a blow torch to light from a distance. It's a hell of a good time, especially for the first time. :-D

Holy crap, ether. I don't know if my butt can take that. I dig over high voltage power lines and gas mains for a living and I think I have used up 8 of my lives already

I would say no to the ether. I've seen it done by tire guys before and its effetive getting the tire on, but what about the little bit left that may not have completley combusted? I was on my way to NC afew years ago to pick up a cab for my truck and was passing an 18Wheeler when the tire at about 2 O'clock from my truck exploded in a fire ball. The concussion left me deaf for a few minutes afterward.

A small inner tube ,motorcycle or bycycle type coverd with tire lube and put between the wheel and tire and inflated enough to create a seal works well. Put tire lube on the wheel and tire and the tube and as the tire expands it pushes the tube out and the tire seals. Much safer.

Put a tube in them? Never tried ether but I've seen gas used. I would think gas or ether would just evaporate. Wayne

a few more...

I definitely would rather just remove the valve core and let it equal itself out than jump up with an air hose.

I seriously doubt you have to worry about residual ether causing a blow out. I'm pretty positive it is all consumed in the explosion, and even if it weren't, ether isn't powerful enough for a remnant to cause any damage. You can spend hours with a tube and tire lube or 10 minutes with a can of ether and a box of matches.

I am nervious and my cousin has less hair on his arm, but I will post the film tonight on Youtube. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but I still think it is a bad idea.

Glad to hear you got it done! Seating a bead with ether is definitely a right of passage to truly becoming a man.

You can even do it with the wheel on the truck!

Did they have the valve core removed and a air line clamped to the valve stem, when they used the cheata tanks? Wayne
